Time to Say Good~Bye…

Today my husband called as I was walking out the door to go to physical therapy and he was crying.  He said, “You need to come up to the nursing home with mom now, the hospice nurse and social worker are going to talk to us.” I didn’t know what to say.  I was shocked.  I hung up and told my mother~in~law.  She was confused, as I was, but proceeded to get ready and we were off.

That was yesterday.  Today he has declined even further.  If you know someone or have lost someone, you may know the stages of dying.  It isn’t pretty, and it doesn’t come instantly.  So here we sit, waiting.  we have called the family.  My sister~in~law and husband are on their way as is her son.  They live in Delaware and SC.

His vitals keep dropping, and they are keeping him comfortable.  That is all that we can do right now.  I ask for prayers that this will go quickly and peaceably.  He has suffered so much.  The poor man has dwindled down to almost nothing.  He has had a good long life, and I feel blessed to have been a part of it.  Yes, my life is fuller knowing this God fearing man.  He has made my life richer and fuller just to know him.  Not to mention he fathered the husband I have loved for over half my life!!!  lol  Gotta love that!

Thank you all for your love and support before hand, and I will keep you posted as to what is going on.  Your the best bloggy buds out there!  xoxoxoxo

I'm so sorry... I know how those last hours/days feel waiting for your loved one to pass. It so hard. Not wanting them to go, but not wanting them to suffer... Praying its a peaceful passing... praying for strength for the family.

Oh, Jo, I'm so sorry. I will surely pray for your father-in-law, as well as your entire family, that he has a peaceful passing. Again, I'm so sorry.

I have your family in my prayers. We went through that with my father-in-law and then my mom. It sucks.

i wish i could be there, toone... you know i do. i would cook you all good comfort foods, cuz that's my way.

soon god will scoop him up in his mighty hands and take him back home. he made a difference here, in the time he was here, what more could you hope for?

i am so sad for jimboob and you and pat, and the rest of the fam... surely the angels are right around his bedside gently comforting him until his moment.. and i do so believe you [well, all of us cuz families are forever...] will all be together again in the place we go to from here.

jim is such a good son to his daddio, since you guys have moved there, he went to the nursing home every morning to shave him, dress him and have breakfast with him.. and pray with him.i am POSITIVE his dad couldnt be any prouder to have jim as his son. remind him of those tings in his grief, and please tell him and pat NOT to feel guilty if you feel relief that it's over. thats a normal feeling, specially with a long illness and suffering, he wont hurt no mo.

i send you big hugs, toone, to all of you.. careful not to break pat... lol.. keep me updated.

i wish i could be dere for you.

My heart hurts for you all...I know this feeling all too well.
Just remember, his hearing is the last to go...so speak good words, send him on his journey with an ear- full of love.
