Oh Sister, You Forgot Somethings

As me an my honey were on our date, we revisited some of the places we took my sister. 

 

The pier on the beach, (right behind the bench there is where you fell over and couldn’t get up!)

 

We walked along this pier and people watched for a good hour.  It was something we should of done while you were here.  The pier goes out forever!  It is like you are in the middle of the ocean.  You would love it.

Then I took some pictures of the color of the water, it isn’t as pretty as it was in person.  It was turquoise that day.  And this didn’t do it justice.

Then we went to the base.  The have a beach access there.  It is actually the river.  But, it is just like a beach.  Jim and his dad used to go here and set out nets and get shrimp and fish.  Then they would go rake for clams.  Wait till you see it in person.  Here is a sneak peak.  It is a bit of a climb to get in there, but I think you can do it.

Did you forget a few shells here?  LMAO!  I was having a fit, thinking you wouldn’t have pockets big enough!

 

They are mostly clam shells, all shapes, colors, sizes….you could fill a few five gallon buckets EASY!!

The water is calmer here, but still laps up on the beach like where we were before.

 

This is where we went down, the building in the background is our new “All-Ranks Club” for officers and enlisted men.  We will join when it opens this month.  It’s got quite a view.

Anyway, this is what I wanted you to see.  Just a few of things that you should of seen while you were here.  And I am sure there will be more.  We also went to a really good pawn store.  It had some good bargains.  The old man and rick weren’t there.  So it wasn’t the same.  LOL 

 

Well, I am off to see if I can get a hair cut.  Nothing else exciting going on here.  All my excitement left me last week!  HA HA  OH wait, the jehovah’s witness’ came by, I pretended I wasn’t home.  That was pretty exciting.  So…there you have it.  My sappy Saturday….

The Time is Near, My Dear

It is that time, yup, just has flown by like a flock of geese going south for the winter.  My sissy is leaving me!  Nooooo!  Don’t let her leave!  She hasn’t even been here two whole weeks yet, I say another couple of months ought to do it. lol  She left me today at noon.  It was soooo sad.  But we had some good times.  I will post the evidence here as soon as I load it up! 

 

We had a final hurrah last night.  It was my MIL’s birthday and we had everyone over to celebrate, and also Chris’ last night here.  I’m bored now.  Don’t know what to do with myself.  We went 90 miles an hour while she was here.  Never sat around.  Now I am just sulking and bored and depressed.  Now I need a trip!

They just loved their “granny” Chris.  It was the first time she met them.

 

Now it is time to say good-bye.  The morning she left.  It was a sad day.

 

Well, sadder for some than others apparently.  She was wearing a lamp shade!  What a goof-ball!

 

 

Well, there you have it folks, all the gory details and grotesque evidence of all we did.  LOL  It was so short, it almost didn’t happen!  I want a redo!  She is still on her way home.  I have been trying to write this for several days now.  My pictures just were not cooperating. 

 

She should be home about 2-3 am Tuesday.  If I know her, she will want to take time to check all her mail, blog, shower, then sleep the whole next day.  Bless her driving little heart.  She hasn’t slept at all the whole trip.  She tried several times but didn’t get much sleep.  She will make up for it at home. 

 

Hope you enjoy the gallery.  It took me long enough.  Geez.  I need to take a class on how to work computers.  I’m so not a geek.  Well, got to go now, you all have a good week. 

Me and My Sister at the Beach and Stuff

It has been soooo much fun since she has been here.  I have not had time to post.  Well, I had some headaches too.  But also we have been running around and doing stuff just about everyday!  FUN! 

 

 

 

 

 

 

So here we have some pics of the kiddies and us.  Chris is posting too.  So I was going to post more and she said she was going to post some pictures.  I didn’t want to steal her post, so I will see what she is going to post, then I will post some more.  She has some cute pictures of the beach and what we saw.  We will be going to do some more this week.  I kind of pooped out on her a bit with my headaches, but tried to keep on going.  I have a neurology appointment in the morning with a new dr.  It is supposed to be one of the top ones around here.  He is associated with the university of North Carolina.  So, maybe we will find an answer to my problem.  It is a couple hours away.  So a baby road trip tomorrow is planned. 

 

 

Well, so far it has been a wonderful week.  We went to a Seafood Festival.  After a week full of wind and rain, we had one day of fair weather and we spent it at the festival and the beach.

Soggy Sunday

We have not had rain for several weeks now.  Today is rainy and gloomy.  Thank you Lord.  I do have a bit of a headache, but as it is coming down, it is refreshing and it is letting up.  I love rain and it’s smell and all it’s cleansing power.  There is just a wee rumble of thunder which makes it nice for sleeping or snuggling.  Or for my sister’s case, driving.  She is on her way now to see me, and it is the perfect driving weather.  We both love rain to drive in, since the sun gives us both headaches.  She will be stopping shortly for a break to take a nap and it will be perfect for her sleeping.  It is raining where she is also. 

 

Yesterday I watched the grandbabies for my son and his wife.  It was their 5th anniversary.  I had them all day.  They went to the beach and dinner and movie.  I took the kids to the park.  Then we went to McDonald’s and got happy meals.   We decided that we would pop in to see Papa at his work and say hi at the furniture store.  I needed to get a small lamp for the living room.  The kid’s were being sooooo good, I took them to Walmart after and let them each pick out a lil something.  We got a memory game and a musical book.  Then we went back to Nonna’s house for a bit.  We made popcorn there to take to their house.  (I don’t like microwave kind.)  I brought a Disney movie they hadn’t seen before: 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.  Jordy loved it, Sammy didn’t care. 

 

It was a fun weekend.  Mostly quiet, now resting.  Waiting for my sissy, getting her room ready. Drive already!

Pet Peeves, No they aren’t cute! Whiny Wednesday it is…..

 

Some things that really make me angry are people that hoard.  I know it is an illness, but it still makes me mad. 

 

Gluttony is another thing that makes me mad.  They even make TV shows about it.  Man vs Food and shows like it make me want to vomit.  There are people starving in this world and people have to eat like that?  We even have people starving here in our own neighborhoods.   Come on, share the wealth with the poor would you?

 

People that abandon animals.  Do I have to say anymore?  Wait….yes…they should to them what is done to the animal.  Yup. 

 

People that are fake.  Come on, have the courage to show your real self.

Or those that are two-faced and stab you in the back.  Ewwww, just say stuff to my face and suck it up!  Don’t hide and be a sissy. 

 

I don’t like mean-ness.  (is that a word?)  Why be mean when you can say something in a nice tone or just in a calm neutral voice?  The world would be a better place.  Yeah, yeah, take off the rose colored glasses, Jo.

 

I don’t like confrontation either.  Is there a pattern here?  I guess I’m just an easy going person and want an easy going world around me.  Oops, picked the wrong planet.  LOL

 

I guess I have too many more to list….I didn’t realize I had so many, geez.   Well, to change the subject to something lighter….we may get another hurricane.  Igor is working his way westward.  He may land on the eastern seashores, but we will see. 

 

I am hosting a Pampered Chef party for my daughter.  She just recently became a consultant.  I think I own more than she got in her whole kit PLUS what she owned before.  Besides, she lives in FL, I live in NC.  What was I thinking?  But I have to do the Mom thing and support her.  So….I will do this one thing for her.  If you here a scream on the 28th, you will know it was me.  And if you need any Pampered Chef stuff, let me know, I will hook you up!  K?

 

We bought a nice little sewing machine at an antique store last weekend.  I don’t know why, it is one of those old ones with the peddle on the bottom, like from Sears, the kind in the cabinet that folds into itself.  My hubby said he could “fix it up” and resell it for a bunch of money.  Ha!  We paid $50, and he said he saw one sold for $400 at another yard sale.  I told him when the money was in my hand I would believe him. 

 

Well, I recently started watching LOST, from the very beginning.  I’m totally engrossed in it.  I watch one show right after another.  I’m addicted!  I’m on season 2 now.  Anyone else have this fever?  I’m also into Grey’s Anatomy.  Yeah, I have nothing else in my life.  Oh, I read alot too.  I have no life.  Well, I don’t have kids.  They are grown now.  I just have a husband, and he is at work most all day.   So after MIL and I do all our junk, I have time to watch my shows….lol!  Then of course, there is the Food Channels!  You know you have your vices too, don’t even go there!!

And there you go, you all have such great blogs, I would of given them out to many more, but I think a lot of the others already had hit you up!  So….here are my many things that you might not know about me:

 

1.  I am very short.  Like barely 5” tall.  Used to be 5.25” but somewhere lost the .25”.  Must be where all the extra socks go in the laundry.

 

2.  French was my first language.  Our mom was Canadian, and she taught us French, then we learned English as our second language when we went to school.  We still talk it now when we want to piss off our spouses, it makes them think we are talking about them.  lol

 

3.  I can read a whole book in one day.  I will stay up all night to finish it.  And have most recently.  I have a passion for reading.  It’s one of my vices.  Almost to the point of neglecting everything else in life.  lol

 

4.  I am like my sister about animals.  I can’t stand to see them hurt or mistreated.  It is one of those things to me that they are defenseless and cannot fend for themselves, so we must do it for them.

 

5.  I love food.  I love to cook it, I watch it on TV, at the market, read about it, I even subscribe to Food Network Magazine.  I’m a food junkie.  My name is Jo.

 

6.  I am also obsessed with learning where our people come from.  I have been doing genealogy for over 20 years now on both sides of our family.  Still working hard at it.  Don’t have all the answers yet!

 

7.  I have a “thing” for body oils, creams, perfumes and that kind of stuff.  I love it!  I just adore smelling good!  I can’t go in a store without stopping and smelling.  It makes me sooooo happy!

 

8.  I like pretty night gowns too.  The ones that don’t get all tangly with your feet.  they have to be soft and comfy though.  Not restricting in any way, but nice, feeling good, freeing, and soooo dreamy.

 

9.   I am a very patient person.  I can out wait, out pout, out maneuver, out stand anything I put my mind to.

 

10.  My dream, one day, is to go to Ireland.  I would love to just go and roam around, preferably once I knew where our ancestors were from, and go there.

 

11.  My husband and I will be married for 30 years this year, and I will be turning the big 5-0!   AGHHHH!  I am soooo old!

 

12.  Chocolate…..the very best, don’t settle for anything but the best, nuff said!

 

13.  I am owned by one little mini dachshund, Morgan.  I am her hooman.  When she barks, I jump.  Literally, she has this deep bark, you would think she was a great dane if you didn’t see her.  She lights up my life. 

 

14.  I have 3 grand babies right now.  Hopefully, with more to come.  They are my pride and joy.  As life is so short, enjoy each day as it is your last, and embrace your family all around you. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Well, It Was A Good Try

It wasn’t as strong as we thought, but we got a bit of rain.  Oh well, so much for the 1st storm of the season.  To take your minds off the serious sides of things, I thought I would give you this wonderful video of a doggie that dances.  I laughed so hard, and enjoyed it, thought it would bring you a smile too. 

 

 

 

Earl turned out to be a real downer….all the teasing and taunting aside.  I know they are still expecting him up north and waiting for destruction.  I just thought that he was going to be a bigger and badder boy, had prepared myself for worse.  I guess I am secretly glad nothing came of it.  But sometimes you just want to see some action.  Ya know?  Anyway, I am sure the season will bring some more. 

 

Hope everyone is having a wonderful Labor Day weekend.  We are starting out tonight with a cookout.  Porterhouse steaks cooked out on the grill.  Nothing fancy.  Steamed veggies.  And home made french fries.  I have a hankering for those.  I had another wicked migraine with the storm…yeah, who knew?  So, I am indulging, or my hubby is indulging me in whatever me lil heart desires.  He is so good to me.  Me and Morgan (my lil doxie) are snuggled, medicated (me, not her) and hopefully will get rid of this pounding, freaking headache after I eat something.  It will be my 1st meal of the day.

EARL!! Don’t Even Think About It!

Well, this is the first hurricane of the east coast and boy is my head not happy!  My MIL is just “business as usual” but my hubby and I went out and bought flashlights and batteries like all newbies around here.  LOL  We got the generator all fired up “just in case” along with putting up all the lawn stuff.  We haven’t done anything like that since we lived in Okinawa and had typhoons!  Those were fun though.  We lived in cinder block (cement) houses, so I knew we were so safe.  We would have “typhoon parties” where our friends would come over and we would have lots of food and watch movies and sleepovers.  We hardly ever lost power over there, so it was lots of fun.  Here….I guess it is a lot different.  My husbands parents are used to it.  They said usually it is mostly high winds, rain, flooding, and loss of power.  They haven’t had a bad one for a while.  She is forgetful now and can’t remember when  the last one was.  We went shopping today at the base and got groceries.  She gets paranoid about running out of food so she is stocked up on all kinds of things.  Bless her full little cupboards!  They predict Earl to hit us around Thursday night, just north of us on the Outer Banks, about 45 minutes from where we live.  That is if he lands right where they say….which we know how meteorologist are sooooo dang right on the money!  LOL!

 

Stay tuned, I may even have pictures….if Earl lets me, he may not allow it!  He may take my internet….he is such a bad boy!

My Experiment

I have decided that I am going to do an experiment on food and see if any of them cause me to have migraines.  Yup….I never noticed a single item I have eaten to give me a problem in the past, but I am going to start with one item, like gluten I think, and eliminate it, and see what happens. 

 

Then I will try wheat and then soy items.  They seem to be the biggest culprits I have heard about.  If anyone has any information, please post.  At this point, I am at my wit’s end.  My neurologist is ready to give up on me.  He wanted to send me to a pain clinic.  What the heck?  So I just need to figure things out on my own.  It’s sad when your own Dr. doesn’t even want you any more!  What are they going to do for me at a pain clinic that they didn’t do at the neurologist?  I’m sick of Dr.’s  I will try my little experiment and see what happens.  The most that can happen is I can have less headaches or more, right?  LOL!  Stay tuned for the updates….

SHE’S GONNA LIVE ANOTHER DAY!!!

YEAH!!!  We have a survivor!  She is gonna make it!  Me lil sissy is gonna live to blog another day!  She went in for her colonoscopy this morning and only had diverticulitis.  So all she has to do is EAT MORE FIBER!!!  YEAH!!!   I was a wreck all last night and this morning, as I am sure she was and Di too.  But being 1,500 miles away….well, I wasn’t there to hold her lil paw and so, I was just pacing til I had word.  Anywho, you can all rest easy now, well, at least until she has another test of some sort.  Cuz she still is anemic which means that she is still losing blood somewhere, so they may want to do some other kind of test.  Ehhhhh, the gray hairs I’m earning with this one.  She will probably blog all about it, even with pictures, make sure your NOT eating when you log on, EWWWWW, (only cuz I had pics with mine, NO, I didn’t post mine, YES, she will!) So, until then, me lil buddies, au revoir, and ta ta for now! 

Don’t Tell Me I Got Another One…

Well, I am feeling a little blue, so that is why I am writing in the pink.  Yup…got another freaking migraine again.  Every time the wind blows these days it seems I wind up with a very bad headache.  What do you guys do for headaches when you get them?  I have tried so many remedies now, I am at a loss.  I am willing to try anything.  I have my few things that I still do and a few stand-bys that the Dr. has given me for when “when all else fails” and all that crap.   Ya-da ya-da ya-da blah blah blah, give me a break.  *Yawn*

 

*Subject change* lol  anyway…..this weekend has been cooler around here.  at least that is good.  i have gotten a few things done around the house.  i got to babysit again for me little babies.  that was a lot of fun.  my son and his family are moving into a little bigger apartment on monday and tuesday, so those 2 days will be very busy. 

 

my hubby just got a new job.  he really doesn’t need to work.  he is retired military.  but he wanted to do something.  we take care of his parents here.  since his dad is in the nursing home now, he wanted to do something.  his mom is not needing care, so he is working part time at a furniture store.  he had his first day today.  he was like a kid going to his first day of school!  so cute in his lil tie and shirt.  and he was nervous.  i told him to play nice with all the others.  he was on his feet all day, but he sold close to $1500 worth on his 1st day!  i was so proud. 

 

well, my sister is having another procedure this week.  poor little thing.  her colonoscopy is tuesday.  “C” will probably comment or let you know how it all goes on her blog, but if not, i will post here, she may be out of it for a day or two.  she has been through a rough bit this last year.  please remember her this week.

Why I do, of course!  And I have had them all weekend!  My lil grand babes have got mom and daddy working, so Nonna and Papa got to keep them until their schedules synced together.  So, today it is our house, and I am cooking a home made spaghetti, started it this morning.  It smell delish, wanna join us?  You are all welcome.  As long as you bring your toys and play nice.  K?

So my Canadian friend Technodoll challenged us to this cute little game.  So I had nothing else to do today, thot I would give it a whirl, eh?  lol  Here we go:  I studied really hard….hope I get it all right….

B- My BEDROOM theme is: frumpy…goodwill…comfy…what ever works.  but the furniture is cute.
C- The CAR in the driveway is: well, we have 3, a buick le sabre, a chevy venture, and ford explorer. 
D- My DESK looks:  like an explosion went off on it.  or someone emptied a dumpster in it..
E- The EXACT time I wake up daily is:  usually 10 hours after my head hits the pillows… or my eyelids open up
F- The FIRST thing I wash in the shower is:  whatever my hands happen to grab hold of
G- My GARAGE is filled with:  i dont have a garage, just a carport, but i do have to out buildings, you wanna come browse?  they are filled with lovely things, two households full of crap.
H- My HOUSE is:  slowly coming together, after being combined with MIL, we moved in with in laws last year to care for them

How Stupid Can You Be?

I’m watching the world’s dumbest criminals and this guy and his girl, drunk as a crap, higher than a kite, show up at the police station, to get a ride home. that is not the funny part. while they are standing there waiting….he is playing with himself….no lie….she is staggering back and forth…..swaying to the music, (i don’t think there really was any playing, i didn’t hear any) and then she goes to sit on the bench. bless her little inebriated heart, she misses it by about a foot and falls flat on her butt! he runs over to her and yells, “get up bitch, you want to get caught?” then the police happen to stroll out, lol, and catch them yelling at each other. they happen to frisk them. the fella has some weed in his shoe, and you know what he says? “what, thats not mine….its orgegano!” Talk about your rotten luck! DUMMIES!

This is not in the stupid category, but funny anyway... going to visit dad in law at the nursing home tonight….we sat down to chat with him, asked him what was new like we always do. he said, “i shit my self.” i just almost fell off the couch. i tried not to laugh, cuz it wasn’t really funny, but then it was. i didn’t want to look at my husband then i knew i would lose it. i glanced at mom in law, saw her nostrils flare cuz she was holding it in, but then dad started to giggle about it and so we all guffawed and had a laugh about it. me, well, i got so tickled it lasted a bit longer, like maybe 30 or so minutes. i had to walk away. yup, you can’t take me anywhere. well, if you shit yourself, don’t expect me to keep a straight face, k? just sayin’.
